Move On...

It's been over 2 years that we had a lovely trip to the twin towns of Puducherry & Auroville. This post is from back then. This is to refresh the grey cells for the next post incubating in my head for quite some time.. do wait for it. In the meanwhile, turning back the clock.

Just back from the  wonderful, vibrant little quaint town of  Puducherry (old Pondicherry) and the rustic realms of Auroville. It was a visit long overdue and we are glad we could finally experience a bit of the magic of these two charming places.

There is so much I could write about this trip. However, I will stick to one incident that really shook me up.

We were visiting the 600 year old Manakula Vinayagar Temple dedicated to Ganpati & near the Aurobindo Ashram. I was standing in line for a glimpse (darshan) of the temple deity. The temple has replicas of the many forms and depictions of Ganpati from all over the world. The ceiling is painted with murals depicting important events from the life of Lord Ganesh. Totally absorbed in the lovely colours painted on the ceiling, I did not notice that the person ahead of me in the queue had moved ahead. I was brought back to attention by a soft, but assertive voice (yes, it is possible) which whispered in my ear “Move On… Please”.

It took me a second to realise it was meant for me and I swung around to see whom the voice belonged to. It did not definitely belong to the girl and her mom standing behind me and looking at me with a surprised look. People were milling around in the temple complex and I could not say for sure who was the whisperer.

I moved forward in the line slowly but those words kept ringing in my ear. In the serene atmosphere of the temple, those words seemed to say so much more to me. Looking at the beautiful statue in the sanctum sanctorum, my mind was trying to answer the question….Had I really moved on in my life??

Life Happens. It has such a lot to teach us and it is for us to choose to remain stuck in the past OR allow ourselves to learn these lessons, and grow.  If only we could really get it into our heads that we shall pass this way only once. Then we would take each moment we are given to love more deeply and be mindful of the experiences awaiting us.

The rope that ties the boat to the shore also prevents it from finding newer horizons.

Life is an Adventure so Eat, Pray, Love and Move On…. Please.
